Dang I've been slack! my b! HDR 48

Sorry for the lack of blogs over the past couple of weeks but I, thankfully, have been really busy with some work! YAY!

on to the reviewing!

Shortbus:
Ok, I'm not really sure how I get some movies on the list or why I would add them sometimes, and I have had my list online going for about 3 years now or something and so I'm guessing I (or someone I knew at the time) put this movie on the list a LONG time ago and then it just took lots of other movies jumping it over and over again before it finally made its way off my list and into my mailbox. Well, this movie is a head scratcher for sure... so let's see... I just checked IMDB for its "plot" synopsis and here's what it says: A group of New Yorkers get caught up in their romantic-sexual milieu converge at an underground salon infamous for its blend of art, music, politics, and carnality.

Not too crazy sounding right? And then right below that it says: 6 award wins and 5 nominations. So that sounds like a winner right? Well, I will flat out say, this movie was a porn and not a funny porn with bad acting and plumbers and cheerleaders and funky music, but more like a gay porn with way too much crazy stuff going on. I think there might have been a plot in this movie at some point but I felt dirty watching it and completely uncomfortable. There's a way to artist when making a movie about gays in the community and with their sexuality but this was over the line with good taste. I was really disappointed in this movie, and it gets on the very short list of movies I didn't make it all the way through. In fact, this might have been the shortest movie duration I've ever attempted in a movie... and that makes "shortbus" a very fitting name for it.

Smiley Face:
Do you know that pot heads have trouble remembering stuff? Well, Smiley Face sure as heck exploits this notion. Anna Faris stars in this movie and it was actually quite funny for a pot head movie. I don't really think there's anything else left to say b/c it was quite an adventure this young pot head girl goes on.

Eagle eye:
So ummm there's this guy... no wait.... there's this girl AND this guy. And they are getting told by this voice what to do to survive getting caught by a bunch of gov't people and they get all this crazy stuff to happen to them. Ok, so it's hard to explain this movie anymore than the previews already did without revealing the meat of hte plot and ruining it for you so I won't do that. Instead I'll say this. Shia LaBeouf is a great actor but needs to get control of his drinking and smoking problems before its too late b/c he really is great and has a bright future ahead of him. Michelle Monaghan is really underrated as a hot chick in movies and did a great job in this one too. So that being said this was a cool movie. Very much what the previews said. Now, you can't watch a movie like this with the "realistic card" ready to play, bc you'll be P-Oed! It's not realistic at all but it's fun and that's cool by me. Great action. Fun time all around!

Awake:
Hayden Christiansen is a billionaire kid and runs a billion $$$ company, but... he's gonna die. So that sux. Anyway, he is going to have a heart transplant and no amount of money is going to make that any different. So, THEN! (Check this out) THEN! when he's getting the operation started... he experiences all the stuff while being in this coma like state! Crazy huh? he can feel his chest getting cut open and then the saw on this chest and the ripping of the bones as they separate it! OUCH! FREAKING OUCH DUDE!! But anyway, this movie isn't about that at all. I mean, kinda, but not really. It's totally different than that. Oh and Jessica Alba is in it and it's pre-kid popping out of her so she's hot and almost naked in a couple of scenes so you should like this one already. So, again, I can't say much else b/c I'll ruin it for you but I can say this movie wasn't what I expected but it was pretty good. Not dramatic or thrilling but interesting. Terrance Howard is also in this one and he's a great actor. Watch his movies too.

American gangster:
DENZEL!! ITS DENZELLLLLLLL!!! OMG!! OMG OMG!! IT'S DENZEL WASHINGTON! He's great in everything right? well, not everything but he is great and (turn on lisp) super sexy (turn lisp off). So anyway, this is actually a really interesting movie and based off a true story. So there's a cop (played by Russel Crowe) and he's trying to get to the top of the drug lords in NY and he fights the tough battles all over even dealing wiht corrupt cops, crazy mob dudes and everything in between. So, anyway.... this is a great movie. Really long but good. I think it's like 3 hours or so but I def think they needed to keep it that long to really tell the story right. I won't get into the plot details b/c I think I already said enough about it already.
