The Isle:
Very weird foreign film (Japanese i think) that was pretty much about this lake that people live on... it's weird b/c they are like floating docks with little shacks on them and people live in them. Their toilets are like holes in the floor that go into the lake. Then there is the lady, who can't speak, who like rents out the houses and also delivers stuff to the houses as well as whores herself out to different people as they ask. Then there was this murder mystery going on outside the lake until they track him to the lake and go to bust him. So anyway, it was a weird movie. Difficult to watch and very slow moving. It could have been 30 mins or more shorter and still be a decent movie but it just dragged on too much.
Shoeless Rating:
and a half
Yellow:
Story about a Hispanic dancer who leaves town when her father takes his own life and her life is pretty messed up otherwise. She bounces to NYC and figures out the best way to get on her feet is to strip for a living b/c she can still dance this way. Now that sounds really strange but actually it wasn't as bad as you'd expect. The stripping to "make it" was a little out there but the dancing scenes were pretty cool and not as stripper as you'd expect. Very interesting movie, strange but good. I liked it and it had a decent story, as weird as it was.
