SAR 54

Let's keep on going while I'm at it...

Conversations with God:

Based on one man's experience in his life and who claims its a true story. He went from homeless to personally having conversations with God late at night. He start chronicling everything he was hearing and ended up writing quite a number of books and helping out hundreds of thousands of people during his lifetime. This movie was a story about how he became homeless and then got back on his feet and the people he meet along the way that helped him etc...

I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't a religious movie but just one man's experience. It didn't guilt you into anything and it didn't make you feel like it was stupid either. If I were a non-believer it would have sparked my curiosity enough ot possibly go out and buy his book or maybe even a Bible. This is another example of a movie that I had never heard of and I didn't even find the movie myself... I had to be turned onto it by someone else! I enjoyed this movie.

Chasing Christmas:

Another spin off of the classic Christmas story with christmas past, present and future. It wasn't terrible but it really wasn't that great either. I felt like I had a special connection with the main character (played by tom arnold) b/c he pretty much hated christmas b/c of all the bad things that had happened to him personally on Christmas and the bad association that he had with the season, but I don't think that I could stop celebrating christmas no matter what my experiences were b/c of how much I still care for other people and what the season actually means. Hell, a lot of non-Christians celebrate christmas b/c of the goodness that it brings to others and that's actually a good way for Christians to get the meaning of the season out there to people. But that's another discussion for another blog... this is my review of the movie.

Decent flick, not that funny. I don't really recall laughing at all but it was a more recent take on a classic story and I didn't completely hate it...

Take the Lead:

Dancing movie with a spin. Based on a true story out of NYC where a bunch of seemingly unreachable kids get taken on by a big time dance studio owner who takes a different approach to reach them. He gets them to ballroom dance and it helps focus them and discipline them enough to help them change their lives and attitudes and in teh process he learns a little from the kids as well... how to loosen up.

Decent flick. I'm not much for dancing b/c I don't know jack about it and if you've ever witnessed a fish out of water flopping around on the ground you've actually seen something more beautiful than watching me dance. But my gf is a dancer so she could give me some good feed back on what was good or bad about dancing and I'm into movies and gave some good feedback on how back some of those dancers acting abilities were smile.gif
