HDR 132

Yay for movies, yay for reviews! Shoeless Works is back with more movie reviews and less fluff! Higherdef, get to it!

One Missed Call:
Have you ever seen a movie like this before? I think we have it was like the ring or final destination or any of those "death is coming for you" movies. Well, this one was just a different twist on the same movie. It was decent but nothing special. Pretty much you get a voice mail from someone who just died and then you are going to die next. Pretty much what I would do is stop using AT&T and then I wouldn't die anyway oh snap! another rip on AT&T they are evil. Speaking of AT&T have you seen their new ad on tv where they are showcasing one of their CUSTOMERS who is doing good deeds by giving shoes to people across the world? Well, that's funny. AT&T is evil and they are now trying to not look so evil by showing to good things their CUSTOMERS do now so people think it's them. Ha! nice try AT&T you are still evil and not fooling this guy! Die AT&T! haha

Leatherheads:
Filmed in Charlotte (and other places) but filed with lots of locals and some super stars too. Now am I the only one that thinks Renée Zellweger is terrible in a leading lady role? I mean, she's not ugly but she's sure as heck not pretty to me either. I just don't see why she is getting these lead roles. She looks like she's trying to make her lips turn inside out all the time or taking a dump in her pants or something. I don't know, she just distracts me from the movies she's in. George Cloney and the dude from the office were decent though, but overall the movie was pretty lame and too much a chick flick instead of a football movie. I probably won't have minded as much but ol' duck face was distracting me so i guess that was my biggest problem.

Gracie:
Real life story of Actress Elizabeth Shue and her HS soccer playing days. It starts with the tragic death of her older bro and soccer super star of the family and it turns into a self discovery movie for her and her family. Good movie, if you like soccer or at least don't hate soccer. If you are one of those weird people that have some negative opinion of soccer and hate everything soccer please have another beer and tylenol and vent somewhere else with Jim Rome. For everyone else, you would probably like this movie esp if you are young girl or have a young (teenage) girl as a child. Good movie and a good story. Glad we've come a long way with male-female relations over the years now if we could just ever get to equality with this and other races, THEN we'd be getting some where! unitl then, all I can do is review movies...

In the Name of the King:
Jason Statham rocks. If you like his movies you'll like this one b/c he's always a B.A . and that's all you need to know! Kind of reminded me of a Braveheart rip off though. Guy gets kid and wife taken from him, plots revenge, revenge taken... You know that old song and dance? Well, it wasn't as EPIC as Braveheart is but still a good movie.

Teeth:
Ok, So i thought this was some movie about a crazy dentist or some whacked out demonic teeth or something like that; well... not exactly. It was about this girl who had teeth in her vagina. I'm not kidding and they reacted to her emotions. If she was with a guy who she liked it was all good and gravy but if she got PO'ed her teeth would bite. Yeah. That's just nuts (no pun intended) and it was weird b/c for some reason it killed people. i didn't know you had that much blood rush "there" did you? Anyway, it was really lame and creepy and just strange.

HDR 131

So here's the first installment of the HDR combined total of reviews since the beginning! Can you believe I've done 131 of these things in the last couple years? Yea, me neither! So let's get to it!

Appoloosa:
Turn on western southern deep voice/
My name is John. I'm a bad@$$. You don't want to get dirt on my watch. I got cows to look after.
Turn off western southern deep voice/
Ok that was lame I admit. Anyway, this movie is a new western! YAY! Shooting people like it's fun and lots of dust everywhere! Hey! where's the water at? Anyway, this movie was pretty good. I like a good western every now and then esp when they are new and fancy with lots of good action and bad teeth!

Higherdef Rating: 4

Lemony Snicket: Unfortunate Events
Jim Carey is a great actor when it comes to crazy creepy dudes in children's films and he proves it again. I think this guy's face is actually made out of jello or rubber or maybe even flubber ! ha! Either way he can really contort his face to do all sorts of cool stuff. Good movie about some kids who have something terrible happen but end up having to go through even more stuff before finally getting a life they deserve! Very dark but interesting and funny.

Higherdef Rating: 4.5

Futurama: Into the wild green yonder
Ok so I might as well skip this one right? I mean you and I both know I'm gonna give it a 5 and move on to the next one. So I guess I'll go ahead and leave out how awesome futurama is, and not bother telling you how funny they always are and how amazingly creative this show is! Ok, you got me, I'll rate it now.

Higherdef Rating: 5

Corpse Bride:
I don't really see the appeal of the claymation frame-by-frame movies but they are very creative and I have a lot of respect for them. Esp these types of movies. They really do an amazing job at the motions and syncing up with the audio etc but I just don't get the cult following for it. I mean, I am not knocking the movie at all, it was very impressive but if it were a live movie it'd be lame and not really all that great but if you spend 100000 times longer making it with stick people made from plastic, well then now, Now! you have a crazy cult movie!

Higherdef Rating: 3 and a half for taking up a lot of time making it

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium
I seemed to have watched a lot of kids movies lately huh? I seem to go in patterns, 1 week of gore, 1 week of kids movies, 1 week of drama, 1 week of comedy and then 1 whole life time of being awesome! no wait....
Anyway, he's another good kids movie. This one actually has a good magical undertone that wasn't super lame too! Anyway, this guy (mr Magorium) played by Dustin Hoffman, owns this awesome toy store that is pretty much alive and his sole employee (Natalie Portman) pretty much runs the place. Anyway, Mr M is about to die, or leave the planet or something and he tells Natalie this and she gets sad, and so does the actual store. So Jason Bateman is in there some where and it's really pretty neat, and predictable but you just have to ignore that part.

The HDRs will make a jump from 50 to 130

The next movie review with be extra great bc of this now

enjoy!

What's with all the price raises dude!!??!!

Well, thanks to netflix... the blu-ray portion of their "plan" is going up about $4 a month. So now I have to make a decision on whether or not I should keep the bluray option for the extra $4 or drop it back down to non-bluray for the regular price.

I don't understand the price jump as the first jump was only a $1.

Why hit us with the $1 per month charge then the $4 a month charge later. Aren't we in a recession and isn't the best way to make more money to sell more products? and isn't raising prices the worst way to sell more products?

Well, maybe I should charge more for my services instead of dropping my prices like I did. Oh wait, if I had done that I'd be starving and Out-Of-Business right now and instead I'm doing a little bit better

go figure
