I might as well do 2 while I'm at it and need to catch up some...

Marie Antoinette:

Ok, well here's a back story for htis one... one of the drawbacks to getting these movies via real mail is that sometimes the DVDs won't play all the way through or have a spot that won't play... well usually this is a quick fix and i just have to wait a day or so until i get a working version but this movie i had to go through 3 different discs! It took us like a week and a half before we finished this 2 hour movie.

Now to the actual review.

One thing that really bugged me about this movie was that with all the great costumes and scenery and historical accuracy they pumped in modern music... and bad modern music at that. I mean, what's the point? are you trying to prove that their music sucked or somethign? i don't understand why movie makers feel the need to do this now with movies set in the past. this was my only true beef with the movie... except that they decided to create the history of hte movie instead of going with what people actually thought. They put words in Marie's mouth and took them out of her mouth (referring to the "let them eat cake" stuff)... I"m not really sure of the truth of that statement but from what most people teach from history she did say this and the movie made it seem like it was completely fabricated. Then they didn't even show her death... that was kind of a cop out ending to me.

Anyway his movie gave me too much unneeded stress so i can't rate it too highly.

The Condemned:

Stone Cold Steve Austin is a good actor and great action hero guy. He should get out of his deal with WWE and do real movies. I'd see just about anything he'd do and there's a much bigger market of his fans than people realize.

Anyway, the movie was interesting and good. Stone cold did a great job and it had lots of good action and fight sequences.

Knocked UP;

Better movie than I expected, that's for sure. It was def funnier than I expected and had lots of different types of humor, not just toilet humor or sex humor. It was a good movie and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

You Kill Me

Decent flick (another one I've never heard of before)... It was a weird love story of sorts who has a main character (played by the guy who play Gandhi) who is a hit man and has a drinking problem so he gets shipped out of town by his boss and tries to get his life together. Its kind of a combo of an AA movie and a chick flick but with some guy humor.

300:

second time i've watched this and reviewed it... Still a cool movie to watch. I still like the story and like the way teh story was told. My prediction... stupid schools with no tradition and original thoughts will start showing clips of this movie on their jumbo tron to pump up crowds in teh future.

The Contract:

Morgan Freeman is good in everything I think. If he's in it, he'll do a good job if anything. John Cusak was great as well. I enjoyed this movie.

SAR 57

I've got some catching up to do and I'm rendering some video right now so I've got time to kill so here goes another one....

Paradise Now:
Very interesting movie. Not very good but def interesting. It was like a "from the terrorist point of view" movie. Or more specifically, a movie from the view of a confused terrorist. It showed some of the manipulation that goes on from the higher ups of the terrorist leaders and as that power trickles down thru the ranks of the actual terrorist who commit the acts. Here's a wake up call for potential terrorists... esp Muslim terrorist...

IF you think that blowing yourself up is the same thing as being a martyr you are greatly mistaken... being a martyr means your life was taken for your faith/beliefs/whatever.... not given as a result of your own suicide. If someone holds a gun to your head and says "do you believe in ______" and you say yes and die as a result you are now a martyr... if you go in somewhere and act like an idiot and say "this is for _____" and blow yourself up... you are an idiot and will look like one in front of God/Allah when you finish blowing up. Good luck to you and stay your pooper away from me.

Sorry for the rant

Volver:
Good flick. Hispanic movie about a young girl who kills her stepfather b/c he tried to rape her; however, she thought it was her real father. Then they don't call the police, and end up covering it up around everyone and then the rest of hte movie is how they cope togehter and through problems. For some reason I liked this movie. I like it a lot actually... it wasn't the best ever but I would watch this movie again.

Rocky Balboa: woo hoo! another rocky movie :cough cough ph34r.gif

Not a huge fan of the rocky series but this one seemed to follow the same theme. I do think, however, that this will be the last of the rockys. At least I hope so. Stallone looked insane. he looked like he was on roids or at least and old guy on roids. I actually didn't really enjoy the movie that much.

SAR 56

Wow! 56 SARs and (after this...) 156 movies! That's quite a handful of flicks and there's more where that came from but now.... to the reviews!

Fracture:
Lawyer/crime movie. Suspect kills wife... or does he? actually he doesn't, he only puts her in a coma. Well, at least that's the trail against him. and the "Him" i'm referring to is played by Anthony Hopkins. I don't think A Hop (ha! i like that A Hop, its like IHop but with better acting and less fattening)... anyway: AHop does a good job with his role but I just couldn't picture the other lead in his role. He was a younger guy and was supposed to be a big time up-and-coming lawyer but it just didn't fit for me. Also, there was no subplot love story which usually annoys me but it was lacking of something more.

This wasn't a bad movie and it had a pretty decent twist at the end YET! and a big yet!!! the main character missed one of the blairingly obvious details at the end and considering the whole trail was against him and he was so OCD that they couldn't prove anything that this made for a pretty big hole in the plot. Not necessarily unrealistic but just didn't fit to me. They could have ended it cooler with a shootout or orgy or something..

Kicking it Old Skool:
I think i've discovered that I enjoy Jamie Kennedy's sense of humor. I've never really had any interest in any of his movies or tv shows but whenever i'm finally sitting down to actually watch anything that he does I enjoy it.

This movie was pretty funny and yet as predictable as expected but still enjoyable.

Delta Farce:
Decently funny. Better plot that expected but still too much toilet humor. I think that :Larry the cable guy is funny but he should stick more to some of his lesser gross jokes than resorting to toliet humor. The rest of the guys were funny too and laughed a little throughout.

Decent flick, if you are in for a stupid humor type of flick and have 85 mins to kill... go for it.

SAR 55

I've got some time to kill so I'll do a few more...

Stick it:
I guess if i was a gymnist this would be my Rocky or Hoosiers... or maybe it was a terrible display of Gymnists and i would have hated it... but either way it wasn't really the movie for me. Now don't get me wrong i enjoy watching young girls prance around in tight leotards who are super flexible and all; but when you add in a plot and a strange (to say the least) main character who is an ex-Olympic qualifier who choked or something and now she's the outcast of all of the National team...

anyway, long story short. I easily made it through this movie b/c i am a straight man but other than that it wasn't that great, not terrible, not great, not much of a rating...

The Ex:
I'm not a fan of these types of movies. Like meet the parents... you know, the one where the bf is trying to win or keep the girl and all this stuff happens to him in the process? Yeah, that's not for me. I sympathize too much with the main character and actual end up wishing he would dump the female dog and find a new girl with less issues.

Well, this movie hit the nail on the head with my nerves... an EX BOYFRIEND! don't get me started. There is absoluletly ZERO reason any girl should keep up with their ex's... unless of course she sitll likes them and/or is still sleeping with them ha! and guess what? in that case, we can cut this short and I let you get back with Mr. Dee Ouche Bag again.

Anyway, this wasn't a terrible movie but i don't recall laughin at all and kinda wished the movie would end earlier than it did.

Shoeless Rating: ZERO! Federline on that ex's!!

Redline:
Now i'm not gear head but they've gotta keep somethings realistic for me to really stay interested. The movie starts (much like the preview) with a guy who is driving thru the desert at speeds over 200 mph (cough cough) and then turns off his lights so he can use night vision to drive the rest of hte way with clearer vision and eluding cops... if you haven't started laughin yet, you should rent this movie b/c you'd probalby think it was realistic.

This movie was a joke and although it had some good moments it was extremely hard to watch from and Editors standpoint with all the breaks in action and bad lining up of clips that were relevant to each other. I mean if a guy floors it and shifts gears the next shot shoudln't be of the car breaking... and if a car is accelerating at a high rate of speed, the next shot shouldn't be of teh RPM tact dropping to zero.

I know i'm bitching about stuff that really doens't matte but it gets on my nerves which makes me not enjoy the movie as much...

Let's keep on going while I'm at it...

Conversations with God:

Based on one man's experience in his life and who claims its a true story. He went from homeless to personally having conversations with God late at night. He start chronicling everything he was hearing and ended up writing quite a number of books and helping out hundreds of thousands of people during his lifetime. This movie was a story about how he became homeless and then got back on his feet and the people he meet along the way that helped him etc...

I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't a religious movie but just one man's experience. It didn't guilt you into anything and it didn't make you feel like it was stupid either. If I were a non-believer it would have sparked my curiosity enough ot possibly go out and buy his book or maybe even a Bible. This is another example of a movie that I had never heard of and I didn't even find the movie myself... I had to be turned onto it by someone else! I enjoyed this movie.

Chasing Christmas:

Another spin off of the classic Christmas story with christmas past, present and future. It wasn't terrible but it really wasn't that great either. I felt like I had a special connection with the main character (played by tom arnold) b/c he pretty much hated christmas b/c of all the bad things that had happened to him personally on Christmas and the bad association that he had with the season, but I don't think that I could stop celebrating christmas no matter what my experiences were b/c of how much I still care for other people and what the season actually means. Hell, a lot of non-Christians celebrate christmas b/c of the goodness that it brings to others and that's actually a good way for Christians to get the meaning of the season out there to people. But that's another discussion for another blog... this is my review of the movie.

Decent flick, not that funny. I don't really recall laughing at all but it was a more recent take on a classic story and I didn't completely hate it...

Take the Lead:

Dancing movie with a spin. Based on a true story out of NYC where a bunch of seemingly unreachable kids get taken on by a big time dance studio owner who takes a different approach to reach them. He gets them to ballroom dance and it helps focus them and discipline them enough to help them change their lives and attitudes and in teh process he learns a little from the kids as well... how to loosen up.

Decent flick. I'm not much for dancing b/c I don't know jack about it and if you've ever witnessed a fish out of water flopping around on the ground you've actually seen something more beautiful than watching me dance. But my gf is a dancer so she could give me some good feed back on what was good or bad about dancing and I'm into movies and gave some good feedback on how back some of those dancers acting abilities were smile.gif
